Big improvement but has dorky moments
Update 3: The new version still has some rough edges but is much better and definitely usable. The database is local now, so lookups are fast and you dont need a network connection. Its faster to load. It even has sound files for pronunciation, but doesnt seem to realize it has no Thai sounds. That doesnt stop it from enabling the button and throwing up an error dialog every time you push it.
Old review:
The app puts up no fewer than three consecutive self-aggrandizing splash screens, and then a "please wait" dialog for good measure while it checks the network. Why not just check the network during the splash screens, or even better, let the user start typing in a word while you check? Or, heaven forbid, store the words on the phone like any decent dictionary app. These apps put out by banks, phone companies and the like are invariably horrible.
Update: Also, if youre listening to music when you launch the app, it also turns that off for no apparent reason.
Update 2: The new update just crashes on launch for me. iPhone 4.
