True Thai dict

Great little tool Very helpful Thanks for that

"Thai dict not found" ..??

You can get a translation in Thai script once you type in an English expression, if you click on the hyperlinked Thai expression then appears "Thai dict not found".

Great reference app.

Would be nicer if there is Thai-English as well. Hope it will be added next update.

its good. But ..

Its good. But can not listen to music when use this app. Should fix this.

No phonetics?

Seems quite promising, but without writing each translation phonetically as well as in the Thai script, its pretty useless for someone who cant read Thai. For a Thai person learning English it might be helpful though

Only works once.

Seems to be an advertisment for True Cell company in thailand, only works on the first try. After that it just bugs out.

Big improvement but has dorky moments

Update 3: The new version still has some rough edges but is much better and definitely usable. The database is local now, so lookups are fast and you dont need a network connection. Its faster to load. It even has sound files for pronunciation, but doesnt seem to realize it has no Thai sounds. That doesnt stop it from enabling the button and throwing up an error dialog every time you push it. Old review: The app puts up no fewer than three consecutive self-aggrandizing splash screens, and then a "please wait" dialog for good measure while it checks the network. Why not just check the network during the splash screens, or even better, let the user start typing in a word while you check? Or, heaven forbid, store the words on the phone like any decent dictionary app. These apps put out by banks, phone companies and the like are invariably horrible. Update: Also, if youre listening to music when you launch the app, it also turns that off for no apparent reason. Update 2: The new update just crashes on launch for me. iPhone 4.

No longer usable by public user!

This app now only works for the True Move subscribers handset. Dont wait your time downloading if you are not its subscriber. I tried to remove this update and reinstall its former version back but it wont run either. What a crab!

Dont update it!!!!

Such a shameful Now its locked for only Truemove customer/subscriber use. If youre subscribers with other mobile phone provider, you cant used this app anymore. Dont waste your time to download it. I wonder how selfish the developer is in the real life?

Doesnt even start. Useless.

The application takes a long time to load and then simply crashes. I downloaded several applications on my iPhone 3G and they all work so, although it is still possible that this might be a problem just on my phone, I never had an application completely fail to start. Useless.

Perfect

The perfect Thai dictionary. Not only words, but even phrasal verbs and idioms, which paper Thai dictionaries often lack. Of course, you need to be able to read Thai to fully understand definitions, but this happens with paper dictionaries as well. And its free.

No transliteration, half useful

Output is Thai script, so not as handy as it could have been ...

Awesome

Good application plus itS free!

Excellent Update

First, really happy that 3.0 software included Thai language keyboard. Second, really appreciated THAI DICT adding Thai to English on version 2.0 in a reasonable timeframe after release of 3.0 iPhone software. With English to Thai the app rated 3 stars, the new Thai to English makes it a 5 star. I still enjoy my hard copy Thai dictionaries (Mary Haas and Domnern-Sathienpong) for the detailed derivatives of various words but nothing beats having a Thai dictionary for basic translations in ones pocket on an iphone. Obviously one cant beat the price for this app. It also amazes me that it anticipates words just like my various English apps do. Quite cool!

What happened in this release????

I have been using the Dr Witt and this dictionary since they appeared for the iPod. I was amazed to find there were two Thai<->English dictionaries and it has made my study of the Thai language much easier. So, I use both Dr Witts and this one often. With the December 9th release, ThaiDict has become almost unusable. It responds to typing very slowly, most oten with about 5 seconds between touching a key and it responding. Sometimes it seems to stop responding altogether. Previously, as well, it used to respond to the "pinch/spread" finger gestures to enlarge and reduce the definitions it showed and now it doesnt seem to at all. For someone learning Thai, this was a big advantage, as reading complicated Thai letters at the default font size is sometimes impossible. I have a first generation iPod Touch but the iPod software is up-to-date and none of the dozens of other applications and games I use show any slow down at all. In particular, Dr Witts dictionary works just as it always has. Ive removed and re-installed ThaiDict and there was no improvement. I wish I could go back to a previous version.

Thank you very much
